The Society of Scottish Artists is holding their 125th Annual exhibition at the Maclaurin Art Gallery in Ayr. This is one of the largest and most prestigious shows of contemporary art in Scotland and you can imagine how delighted I was to learn that one of my paintings ‘Dewfall’ had been selected as part of the show.

There are 150 selected artworks from local, national and international artists including sculpture, moving image and installations.

Dewfall, framed ready for the wall – £550 from the Maclaurin Gallery
‘Dewfall’ is part of my ‘Wild Orchard – A Mosaic Habitat’ collection which was on display at the Dovecote Gallery in Edinburgh – part of the ‘Elements’ exhibition, summer 2023. Here it is in my studio just as it was reaching completion.

Work in progress – almost complete!
Running concurrently is the Society of Scottish Artists’ ‘30 x 30 Online Edition’ exhibition; a fantastic, varied selection of small works at affordable prices. One of my paintings ‘Tangled Edge’ is also included and is available to buy from the the SSA until 14th Jan 2024.

‘Tangled Edge’ – Acrylic, collage and oil pastel on paper, 20 x 20cm, unframed £90
The SSA has put the whole 125th Annual exhibition into a virtual viewing room so you can view the inside of the Maclaurin Gallery from your home! The link can be found on the SSA’s page here .
‘Dewfall’ is in Gallery 4, the one with the curved walls. While you are on your way, check out this gorgeous quadriptych below by Valerie McLean – one of my favourites at the exhibition – this one is in Gallery 3.
