‘Tread Softly’

‘Had I the heavens’ embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half-light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams’.

WB Yeats

Lines from poems read years ago sometimes drop into my thoughts whilst I’m painting. This happened with this one painted this time last year as I was getting a body of work together for a group exhibition “Rhythm” with friends at Dundas Street Gallery, Edinburgh.

I’m thrilled that ‘Tread Softly’ has been selected by Visual Arts Scotland to join some amazing artists and means I can participate in Borders art Fair 2025 😊 Many thanks to VAS for this fantastic opportunity.

Framed size: 33 x 28 x 3.5cm, mixed media on wood panel. News update – SOLD from stand 73, with Visual Arts Scotland – thank you to the buyer and to VAS/Borders Art Fair🙏💫.

I still have the companion painting ‘Tread Lightly’ available here

‘Tread Lightly’ 33 x 28cm

I have also dropped off five 30x30cm unframed works (work on paper set in mounts) – these are great value and you can frame them to suit your own preferences.

‘After the Rain’ – one of the 30 x 30 (mounted size) small works on paper

The art fair runs 14-16th March and is held at Kelso Borders Events Centre, Kelso, TD5 8LS

Looking forward to going along next Friday 14th March and to catch up with and meet many old friends.

Thanks for reading,

Ronnie😁
