I received some welcome news the other day that my painting ‘April Morning 2’ has been selected to appear in the Spring Open Exhibition at The Old Lock up Gallery, in Compton near Matlock. This is a beautiful gallery in Cromford, Derbyshire and I’m really happy to be part of this exhibition which opens Sat 10th Feb 2-5 and runs until 3rd March 2024. ‘We are purveyors of fine and contemporary art, sculpture and ceramics for your home. We take great pride and care in sourcing and exhibiting some of the best artists within the UK. Our interest is centred around quality art work: which is full of meaning, symbols and humanity. We also have an additional ground floor space called ‘The Bothy’ which showcases our artisan & handmade crafts. We endeavour to promote the sustainable ethos of ‘Buy better, buy less’: both within the gallery and The Bothy.
Situated on the edge of The Peak District National Park, Derbyshire, in the historic village of Cromford Derbyshire the very birthplace of the Industrial Revolution and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The gallery can be found on the second floor of a beautiful 18th century cottage which became the village jail in the 1780’s, the cells are still in situ on the ground floor of the building. One of the first cottages to be built in Cromford – originally it would have been surrounded by fields.
The Old Lock Up Gallery – curated and managed by Rachael Pinks – opened in July 2017, prior to this the space was Rachael’s art studio from 2011.’
